Please excuse me for saying this, but I think you would love taking a bird water painting class at your local community education center. I was amazed at the lovely results I got with my first watercolor class. Meaning it is easier than it looks to start dabbling. I haven't tried the bird class, but will look for it this winter. I would love to see your pictures of birds painted by you in the near future, only because you love them so.
